This position is within the Geriatrics and Extended Care Service (GEC) for Geriatrics outpatient clinics and Home-Based Primary Care (HBPC) program, located at the Oklahoma City VA Health Care System.
Will perform a variety of health Administrative and Clerical duties in the day-to-day management with Outpatient Clinics with locations in Oklahoma City and Lawton.
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 04/02/2026.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
For a GS-5 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-4. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service.
An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials.
If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement.
In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.

You may qualify based on your experience and/or education described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-04 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.
Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Thorough knowledge of clerical duties to include style guides for communications, policies, and correspondence.
Skilled in communicating, evaluating, planning, and organizing workload.
Knowledge of Microsoft Word to execute office automation functions such as storing and retrieving electronic documents and files; Possess knowledge and skills in Microsoft Excel or Access to develop and change spreadsheets.
Must have knowledge in designing, implementing, cleaning, analyzing, and reporting data projects assigned.
Thorough knowledge of Vista packages, directives and polices relating to Home-Based Primary Care (HBPC) and the Hospital that relate to the HBPC program.
Must have knowledge of a wide variety of applications, operating systems, protocols and equipment used in the organization sufficient to provide advice and assistance to customers.
Must be able to perform multiple tasks using multiple sources of information and guidelines/policies/directives, ranging from office and clerical duties to data management and analysis to inform HBPC and GEC Management.
Prefers Excel, Vista and CPRS systems, within the VA. Former VA experience with scheduling software along with CTM.
Education: Applicants may also qualify for this position at the GS-05 level based on their education. Applicants must have successfully completed four (4) years of post-high school education.
This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school.
OR, Combination: Combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total qualification for this position at the GS-05 level.
Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement.
One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience.

The Program Support Assistant coordinates internal and external customer service requests and actions for GEC/HBPC programs.
Provides assistance with telephone coverage and analyzes call to act when appropriate in referring calls to the appropriate staff members.
Interacts with GEC patients as needed and all visitors to service to provide support.
Major Duties of this position include but are not limited to: Performs work involving the collection, compilation tracking data and statistical information in support of the HBPC programs operation.
Assist in the planning, review and reporting of data/statistical results of the program and establishes computerized data sets and retrieves data.
GSA Vehicle Reports- Will work with HBPC staff in completing vehicle logs and to prepare, and send monthly reports to Engineering.
Will work closely the Administrative Officer in the tracking and closeout through uses of CPRS-VISTA and VSSC reports.
Responsible for assisting with the management of administrative services at all HBPC offices as needed between Oklahoma City and Lawton, OK. Does require occasional travel.
Accountable for the oversight of day-to-day activities of all outpatient care administrative tasks at the HBPC offices.
Individual will e responsible to aid in the filing, faxing, scanning of documentation and other office duties.
Responsible for Time and Leave as Timekeeper for their location and may serve as back-up for another location in time of need.
