Job Description

Summary

This job involves overseeing staff and programs to help inmates prepare for release from prison, focusing on services like job training, housing support, and community reintegration starting two years before they get out.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with relevant experience in program development, implementation, and oversight, OR Associate's degree with 3 years of such experience, OR High school diploma with 5 years of such experience
  • At least 3 years of supervisory experience
  • Ability to supervise staff while managing a caseload of offenders
  • Skills in delivering evidence-based programming and ensuring documentation in offender management systems
  • Experience in discharge planning, aftercare referrals, and community partnerships for employment, housing, and rehabilitation
  • Participation in multi-disciplinary teams, volunteer recruitment, and program evaluation
  • Successful completion of 4 weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire

Full Job Description

  • Supervises staff while maintaining a caseload.
  • Ensures programming and services are provided to all offenders beginning 24 months prior to release.
  • Provides hands on delivery and oversight of evidence-based programming that is essential to meeting the needs of releasing offenders.
  • Ensures all pertinent information is documented in the Offender Management System.
  • Provides program specific lectures.
  • Provides discharge/aftercare planning referral services for successful community reintegration through SCDC partners for employment, housing, and vocational rehabilitation.
  • Participates on a multi-disciplinary treatment team for purposes of program evaluation and case management consultation.
  • Assists in recruiting volunteers from the community to provide beneficial programs to inmates.
  • Responds to requests for information.
  • Completes assigned monthly reports.
  • Participates in staff meetings and attend training sessions as required.
Must successfully complete four (4) weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire

Requirements

State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:

A bachelor's degree and relevant program experience.

SCDC Minimum Requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree and relevant experience in program development, implementation, and oversight;

OR

  • An associate's degree and 3 years relevant experience in program development, implementation, and oversight;

OR

  • A high school diploma and 5 years relevant experience in program development, implementation, and oversight.

  • Must have 3 years supervisory experience.
