Full Job Description

This position is in the immediate Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of War for Reserve Integration (DASW(RI)) within the Office of the Assistant Secretary of War for Manpower and Reserve Affairs (OASW(M&RA)).

The ASW(M&RA) is the principal staff assistant and advisor on Manpower and Reserve Affairs matters to the Under Secretary of War for Personnel and Readiness (USW(P&R)).

In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below.

Performing administrative and managerial duties related to civil military programs.

Applies good organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal, sufficient to handle assigned tasks in a timely and efficient.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Incumbent typical work assignments may include the following: Directs and manages DoW programs, activities and issues related to Civil Military Programs.

Supervises civilian and military members of the Civil Military Programs team to include Individual Mobilization Augmentees (IMAs) as assigned. Plans, assigns, and reviews subordinates' work.

Initiates requests for filling vacancies or hiring additional personnel; selects or participates in the selection of new employees.

Represents the Secretary of War, Deputy Secretary of War, USW(P&R), ASW(M&RA), and DASW(Rl) on governmental or non­governmental senior executive level boards, public-private interagency working groups, panels and committees on subject areas pertaining to civil military youth outreach matters as requested.

Assists in the development, editing and/or coordination of ODASW(Rl) Congressional witness statements, Congressional testimony, questions and inserts for the record, and Congressional correspondence.
