Summary

This job involves overseeing and evaluating the performance of key military support agencies to ensure they meet the needs of combat operations, while providing expert advice to senior leaders in the Department of Defense.

Full Job Description

This position is part of the Organization of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The incumbent provide oversight and guidance to the Support Agency Review & Assessment Office (SARAO).

The incumbent assists the Vice Director, J-8 (VDJ8) by managing and leading the Combat Support Agency Review Team (CSART) assessments You may qualify at the GS-15, if you fulfill the following qualifications: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service: Applies Joint Requirements Oversight Council (JROC) and Functional Capability Board (FCB) processes and assessments, including knowledge of the processes used by the JROC and Joint Staff to evaluate, validate and monitor Joint Doctrine, Organization, Training, Materiel, Leadership, Personnel and Facilities (DOTMLPF); Applies evaluative methods and techniques assess written materials to: research and analyze concepts; analyze problems to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data, and recognize solutions; extend existing principles to new and unusual applications; conduct innovative program evaluations; and prepare or approve materials on matters of importance for audiences of various levels of understanding and interest; Applies warfighting requirements across multiple strategic theaters to support agency capabilities meet the warfighting requirements of the combatant commanders; Plans, conducts, coordinates and evaluates complex long-range studies and develop technical analyses and recommendations; Utilizes military operations knowledge to include deployed operations at the strategic and operational levels.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level. Major Duties:

As a MANAGEMENT & PROGRAM ANALYST (AGENCY REVIEW AND ASSESSMENT) at the GS-0343-15 some of your typical work assignments may include: Serves as the Management and Program Analyst for the Support Agency Review and Assessment Office (SARAO) and works directly for the VDJ8.

Responsible for planning, coordinating and executing assessments of the eight combat support agencies (CSAs) IAW Title 10, Section 193.

Serves as the senior program manager providing overview and assessments of the CSAs and management of the processes associated with those assessments to the Directorate.

Provides advice and assistance through consultation, written reports, critiques, evaluations, and senior-leader decision support on an extensive range of assessments and corrective actions to mitigate issues associated with those assessment findings and recommendations.

Serves as a principal authority and advisor to the DJ8 for Program Management and is responsible for keeping abreast of state-of-the-art developments in assigned Areas(s) of Responsibility (AORs)
