Job Description

Summary

This job involves helping to plan and manage the purchase and development of major defense systems, like missile programs, for the Navy's Strategic Systems Programs.

You'll provide expert advice on strategies, prepare key reports, and ensure everything follows government rules.

It's a good fit for someone with experience in government contracting or program management who enjoys working on high-stakes national security projects.

Key Requirements

  • At least one year of specialized experience at GS-11 level or equivalent, focusing on acquisition planning and contracting for major weapon systems or ACAT programs
  • Knowledge of DoD 5000 and Navy acquisition policies

  • Experience supporting production of Selected Acquisition Reports (SAR)
  • Skills in providing technical analysis and guidance on program planning
  • Familiarity with federal service or equivalent private/public sector experience, including volunteer work

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NH-02 (GS-11 equivalent) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: contributing to or managing an acquisition plan and related contracting activities for an ACAT Program or major weapon system program.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Major Duties:

  • You will be responsible for providing special technical analysis and guidance on acquisition management, program analysis, and the strategy and planning for SSP.
  • You will support the development of the overall SSP acquisition strategy and plan.
  • You will develop and manage acquisition documents for external commitment, ensuring timely submission of an integrated, quality product that meets DoD 5000 and Navy policy requirements.
  • You will support the SP11 team, in coordination with the comptroller, in production of the Selected Acquisition Report for the Trident missile program for an annual reporting.
  • You will support the SP11 branch head to lead acquisition managers in the development and maintenance of the acquisition strategy, the acquisition plan, and required documents in support of acquisition reviews.
