This job involves helping young cadets at the South Carolina National Guard Youth Challenge Academy build job skills, prepare resumes, practice interviews, and find employment through workshops and partnerships with schools and agencies.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in career counseling/development or related field

  • Knowledge of agency policies, procedures, regulations, and program services
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and build relationships
  • Skills in multitasking, prioritizing, and delivering presentations

Full Job Description

Under general supervision of the Lead Counselor. Plan, develop, coordinate, and implement career/job skills preparation for cadets at the SC National Guard Youth Challenge Academy. Advises students regarding career interests and strategies, job search methods, resume preparation and related matters including personal and professional development. Assist students in the job search and advise them on procedures for obtaining employment. Coordinate with various organizations, schools, and/or state agencies to provide opportunities for job skills training. Engage and actively partner with students from admissions to employment with activities such as: mock interviews, professional workshops, resume writing, and workforce preparation. Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

A bachelor’s degree in career counseling/development or related field and 2 years of relevant experience.

Qualifications

A master’s degree in career counseling/development or related field and 4 years of relevant experience.
