Base salary range: $147,649 - $221,900

Note: Actual salary includes locality pay (15-40%+ depending on location).
This job involves teaching blind and visually impaired people how to navigate and travel independently in their homes, workplaces, and communities through assessments, personalized training plans, and progress monitoring.
It also includes providing advice and training to other organizations like hospitals and nursing homes to better support these individuals.
A good fit would be someone passionate about helping others achieve self-sufficiency, with experience in rehabilitation or working with disabilities.
The Office of Vocational Rehabilitation (OVR), Bureau of Blindness and Visual Services (BBVS), Wilkes-Barre District Office is eager to welcome a dedicated Orientation and Mobility Specialist to complete our team.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to provide orientation and mobility instruction to blind and visually impaired customers in addition to evaluating and teaching independent travel within the customers’ homes, workplaces, and communities.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, upon successful completion of the training period.
In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.
If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Wilkes-Barre. However, HQ location may be flexible depending on the selected candidate.
The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
