The Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency is seeking a motivated and compassionate Crime Victim Compensation Specialist to join our team.

Requirements

In this position, you will provide financial reimbursement or guidance to victims of crime, their families, or other claimants.

Your work will involve answering incoming calls to provide information regarding eligibility requirements, procedures, types of benefits, monetary limitations, questions on emergency awards, how a claim is verified, assistance with filing claims, providing referrals, and claim status.

You will answer emails to provide assistance to claimants, providers, and the public on claim related questions.

Further duties will include reviewing claims, contacting the appropriate entity for court ordered restitution, and preparing follow-up correspondence.

Additionally, you will act as an advocate for victims of crime, as well as provide technical assistance to victim service programs throughout the Commonwealth.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time.

    In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.

    If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Successful completion of the commonwealth’s Criminal Justice System Specialist Trainee program (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • One year of professional experience in criminal or juvenile justice, law enforcement, or victim services, and a bachelor’s degree in the social or behavioral sciences, criminal justice, law enforcement, or a related field; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.


Other Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • You must pass a background investigation.
