Department: Office of the Governor

Position Title: Office of the Governor Intern

Hourly Rate: $20/hour

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Work schedule: 16 hours/week; between 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday

Summer timeframe - approximately May through August


Summary of Functions:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Exposure to the operations and day-to-day tasks of the Governor’s Office

  • Professional development opportunities and relational network building

  • Connect Coloradans with advocates and resources across the state to ensure a first-class constituent services program, working with the constituent services team in order to make sure that the state is doing everything it can to help its constituents.

  • Assist with Correspondence (draft proclamations, congratulatory letters, welcome letters, retirement letters, and letters of recognition) and ensure all correspondence follows accessibility standards.

  • May serve as front desk receptionist (main point of contact for the public to the Governor’s Office), answering phones, greeting visitors and assisting constituents.

  • Provides general administrative support to the Governor’s office staff and assists with basic requests such as printer technical support, ordering supplies, etc.

  • Provides information about the office and organization to constituents and visitors.

  • Coordinates with the Office of the Governor’s Community Engagement team and Constituent Services and Correspondence team.

  • Understanding of digital accessibility standards and basic document remediation skills.

  • Assisting various staff members in different offices within the Governor's Office (writing briefs, doing research, etc.).

  • Special projects and other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to responsibly handle and participate in confidential work

  • Required skills include the ability to work independently, a strong attention to detail, excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with peers, executive staff, other departments and agencies and the general public

  • Flexibility and drive to work remotely if required

Prompt 2: The Pumpkin and Gourd Farmers Association (fictional) will be hosting their annual Pumpkin extravaganza and this year they are hosting it in Colorado. This is a festival all about pumpkin!
