Base salary range: $62,107 - $80,737
Typical requirements: 1 year specialized experience at GS-10. Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or 3 years graduate study.
Note: Actual salary includes locality pay (15-40%+ depending on location).
This job involves working as a nuclear engineer on a U.S.
Navy base in Japan, where you'll guide teams on planning and executing ship repairs, especially in sensitive nuclear areas, while ensuring safety and following strict rules.
It's ideal for someone with engineering experience in nuclear systems who enjoys leading projects and solving technical problems in a high-stakes military environment.
Note that medical and dental care is very limited in Japan, so it's best for those prepared for overseas living.
You will serve as a NUCLEAR ENGINEER in the Nuclear Engineering and Planning Department of PSNS and IMF on the Space Control Team of PSNS and IMF.

Please see Additional Information section below.*** In addition to the Basic Education Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience providing technical guidance, mentoring, and leading project coordination efforts in support of space control, scheduling, and work execution during shipboard alterations and assures that concerns from work in nuclear spaces are included in the technical planning associated with access restrictions and work execution.
