This job is an administrative support role in a U.S.

Full Job Description

Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, U.S. Border Patrol, Fort Brown Station, located in Brownsville, TX.

Experience: You qualify for the GS-09 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Responding to routine inquiries; obtaining and providing information necessary to perform support duties; transmitting guidance and instruction to headquarters and sector staff on workforce and administrative matters; and resolving conflicts Organizing data and recommending resolutions to budgetary issues Verifying the accuracy and completeness of information, ensuring all assignments are completed on time and to standard Assisting in developing briefings, presentations, and conference materials for supervisors and executive management NOTE: Your resume must explicitly indicate how you meet this requirement, otherwise you will be found ineligible.

Education Substitution: Successful completion of two or more years of full-time graduate education or a Master's (or higher) degree from an accredited college or university or an LL.B.

or J.D may substitute for the experience required at this level. This education must demonstrate the skills necessary to do the work.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

You must: Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process; and Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 03/11/2026.

The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees.

As a Mission Support Specialist (Generalist) you will plan and carry out a wide variety of administrative, management and program planning activities, policy research and other duties related to the missions and functions of the Mission Readiness Operations Division in a sector of the United States Border Patrol.

This position starts at a salary of $61,722.00 (GS-09, Step 1) to $80,243.00 (GS-09, Step 10).

Major duties for this position include but are not limited to: Assisting with conducting inventory, assisting with records management, and assisting with the preparing/processing of various property reports.

Researching suppliers and working with requesters to procure goods and services, then preparing required documents and submitting for approval.

Applying knowledge of the laws, regulations, and policies of Federal Employee Group Life Insurance, Federal Employee Health Benefits, BENEFEDS, Federal Long-Term Care, Flexible Spending Accounts, and Thrift Savings Plans.

Providing assistance with the local agency's fleet card program to include ordering cards, performing audits, extracting reports, reconciling invoices, reporting fraud and processing override requests.
