This job involves supporting the workforce management team at U.S.
Border Patrol by handling administrative tasks like creating reports, presentations, and spreadsheets to help with staffing and operations.

Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, U.S.
Border Patrol, Rio Grande Valley Sector, Mission Readiness Operations Division located in Edinburg, TX.
Experience: You qualify for the GS-7 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Proficiency with standard computer tools (i.e.
Microsoft Office Suite) to develop and maintain various electronic files and create staffing reports, word processing documents, PowerPoint presentations, and spreadsheets.
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing with all levels of management and employees, and the ability to display well-balanced, accurate judgement.
Ability to provide a consistently high level of customer service and liaison to accommodate the needs of supervisors, managers, and executives in USBP and outside organizations.

One year (or more) of full-time graduate education or a Master's (or higher) degree from an accredited college or university for Mission Support. 2.
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and claim eligibility for superior academic achievement (SAA) based on one of the following: (1) class standing, (2) grade-point average, or (3) honor society membership.
OR Combining Experience and Education: Combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements for the grade levels specified and may be computed by first determining the total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level; then determining the education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level; and then adding the two percentages.
The total percentages must equal at least 100 percent to qualify for that grade level.
Only graduate education in excess of the amount required for the next lower grade level may be used to qualify for positions at grades GS-9 and GS-11.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).
Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
You must: Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process; and Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 03/05/2026.

This position starts at a salary of $50,460.00 (GS-7, Step 1) to $97,087.00 (GS-11, Step 10). As a Mission Support Specialist (Workforce Management), you will perform office support tasks.
Duties and responsibilities include: Assists in providing direct advice and guidance to USBP sector supervisors and managers nationwide on various policy and procedural aspects of workforce management and administrative programs.
Assist in translating laws, regulations, and policies regarding the Federal Employee Group Life Insurance, Federal Employee Health Benefits, BENEFEDS, Federal Long Term Care, Flexible Spending Accounts and Thrift Savings Plans.
Perform a number of general mission support assistance duties, such as event scheduling, logistical database updating, and assisting higher-graded specialist with various administrative functions.
Performs other duties as assigned.
