Summary

This substitute maintenance worker position involves helping a mowing team keep county roads and drainage areas clear by operating lawn equipment and tractors, as well as handling traffic control when needed.

It's a hands-on outdoor job in Fort Worth, Texas, for Tarrant County's Precinct 1.

A good fit would be someone physically fit, at least 18 years old, with basic experience in equipment maintenance and no issues with working in extreme weather.

Assist mowing crew in maintaining County road rights-of-way and drainage easements.

Requirements

  1. Operates small engine lawn and turf equipment. May operate mowing tractor and related machinery.
  2. Performs traffic control duties.
  3. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years old.
  • Basic knowledge of equipment operation and maintenance.
(THE SELECTED CANDIDATE(S) FOR THIS POSITION MUST TAKE AND PASS A PRE-PLACEMENT PHYSICAL EXAMINATION & DRUG TEST)

If hired, must provide proof of educational attainment at new hire processing

Tarrant County will conduct background checks on new hires that will include a criminal background check related to convictions and deferred adjudication in the past seven years and may include credit reports, motor vehicle records, employment records and educational attainment.

A conviction or deferred adjudication is not an automatic bar to employment. Each case is considered individually.

Additional Information

While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, lift, stoop, bend, push, and pull. May have to lift heavy objects up to 50 pounds. May be exposed to hazardous chemicals. Must have ability to endure extreme hot and cold temperatures for lengthy periods of time.
