Job Description

Summary

This job is for a manager in a naval warfare center who oversees teams producing and refurbishing military systems and equipment, handles procurement, inventory, and program tracking to meet defense goals.

Full Job Description

You will serve as a Manager in the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Port Hueneme, CA The President has ordered a government-wide hiring freeze subject to certain limited exceptions.

This position is subject to the hiring freeze.

ND-05 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-13) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a Professional Engineer.

I possess expertise in acquiring materials and services through standard procurement and contracting methods.

My experience includes the full lifecycle of program management-from development and planning to execution and tracking, utilizing Earned Value Management (EVM) principles.

Additionally, I am proficient in configuration control for systems and equipment, ensuring full traceability of products and procurement actions.

ND-04 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-11) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a Professional Engineer.

  • You will supervise government personnel and provide technical oversight for contract personnel within the Systems Production and Refurbishment branch
  • You will support tasking related to the production and refurbishment of products as directed by leadership.
  • You will develop and mentor all employees within the branch to ensure technical and career growth.
  • You will have knowledge and understanding of basic engineering principles and concepts that can be applied to the management and development of tactical systems and equipment.
  • You will be Knowledgeable of warehousing and inventory management practices and requirements.
  • You will be Knowledgeable with acquiring material, products, services through standard procurement processes and contracting methods.
  • You wil be expected to prepare written plans and reports and to make presentations to interested parties on program/project status, problems, milestones, scheduling, cost, etc.
  • You will review program info to create production schedules, communicate with project managers, track assembly, set quality standards, conduct inspections and testing, and manage packaging and material transfers.
  • You will execute Naval Surface Warfare Center, Port Huenemes mission, goals, and values, ensuring branch tasks align with Command and Department Strategic Objectives.
  • You will apply thorough knowledge of systems, hardware engineering, system integration, and testing to formulate approaches and proposals for all program tasks.
  • You will be responsible for the technical and administrative management of engineers, technicians, and specialists in inventory, procurement, and configuration, as well as other personnel as required by tasking.
