Job Description

Summary

This job is for a manager in the U.S. Navy's team that handles advanced imaging, electronic warfare, and radar systems for undersea operations, based in Rhode Island.

You'll lead a group of engineers and staff, oversee projects from design to maintenance, and ensure everything runs smoothly and safely.

Full Job Description

You will serve as a MANAGER in the Imaging and Electronic Warfare Systems Division, Code 342 of NAVUNSEAWARCENDIV NEWPORT RI.

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower pay band, the ND-04 (GS-12/13 equivalency) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional engineer providing technical and programmatic leadership (including leading a team) regarding the development, acquisition, installation, modernization or maintenance of undersea warfare imaging, electronic warfare, and RADAR electromagnetic systems.

  • You will be responsible for the effective utilization, direction and supervision of all Division personnel and administration of all Division programs and task assignments.
  • You will lead the Imaging and Electronic Warfare Systems technical product areas including development and execution of strategies to expand and diversify the customer base, assess and align the facilities, organize and align the division.
  • You will be responsible for the administrative and technical supervision of a medium to large work force, consisting of ND-02 to ND-05 and NT-03 to NT-05 employees and subordinate supervisors.
  • You will coordinate and integrates the work of lower organizational units, helps to identify where corrective action is needed and provides assistance and advice to lower-level supervisors where problems exist or are developing.
  • You will have assigned authority to approve official time, purchase card approval authority, and authority to approve travel authorizations and vouchers.
  • You will be responsible for ensuring office space is available for all 342 employees and ensuring that 342 labs and office spaces are safe, organized and personnel are trained on the safety requirements of all labs.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
