Job Description

Summary

This job is for a division manager overseeing the development, testing, and management of sub-orbital vehicles at a naval warfare center in New Mexico.

It involves leading teams on complex engineering projects, ensuring projects stay on budget and schedule, and handling everything from design to deployment of these vehicles.

A good fit would be an experienced engineer with leadership skills in defense or aerospace who enjoys directing technical teams and solving tough problems in weapon and combat systems.

Key Requirements

Full Job Description

You will serve as the DIVISION MANAGER of the SUB-ORBITAL VEHICLES DIVISION, WHITE SANDS DEPARTMENT of NAVAL SURFACE WARFARE CENTER, located in White Sands, NM.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the ND-04 (GS-12/13 equivalent) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: As a professional Engineer providing direction and oversight for test and evaluation activities to lead shipboard and land based integrated combat and weapon system projects.

  • You will provide command leadership, advocacy, oversight, and execution of the Sub-Orbital Vehicles Program.
  • You will lead special projects and ensure sponsor awareness of the command's technical and Test and Evaluation policies and procedures.
  • You will plan, conceptualize, design, develop, implement, manage, and control all aspects of the Division, to include cost, schedule, and performance of the Sub-Orbital Vehicles mission area.
  • You will conceptualize, initiate, design, develop, integrate, test, contract, produce, manufacture, deploy, and modify vehicles throughout the life-cycle of Sub-Orbital Vehicles.
  • You will field and sustain the vehicles, plan future initiatives, and evaluate performance against project goals, and applying policies and procedures effectively.
  • You will demonstrate knowledge of shipboard and land based integrated combat and weapon systems, including missile and gun fire control systems, radar systems, and internal/external communications systems.
  • You will display sufficient technical experience to understand complex engineering issues and provide direction and oversight to associated program management, and Test and Evaluation activities.
