Job Description

Summary

This job involves analyzing IT operations within a government agency to spot ways to improve efficiency and resource use, working with teams to solve complex issues, and writing reports and policy recommendations for leaders.

Full Job Description

Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S.

Customs and Border Protection, Office of Information and Technology, Management and Governance Directorate, located in Ashburn, Virgina.

Additional selections may be made to include other organizational divisions and/or units within the duty location(s) listed above.

Experience: You qualify for the GS-14 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Conducting comprehensive assessments of Information Technology (IT) operations to identify long-term needs and opportunities for improvement, incorporating findings into strategic work plans that address resource allocation and operational efficiency.

Facilitating collaboration between cross-functional teams to address complex program challenges and achieve shared organizational goals.

Conducting root cause analyses of data handling processes and standards, recommending policy changes to address challenges and improve organizational effectiveness.

Authoring comprehensive reports and policy documents for senior leadership, and summarizing analysis findings and their potential impact on organizational goals.

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is a federal law enforcement agency that requires all applicants to undergo a thorough background investigation prior to employment in order to promote the agency's core values of vigilance, service to country, and integrity.

This position will allow you to provide expert advice and analysis to management on a wide range of administrative programs having department wide impact.

This position starts at a salary of $143,913.00 (GS-14, Step 1) to $187,093.00 (GS-14, Step 10).

In this Management and Program Analyst position you will become a key team member of Homeland Security professionals.

Typical work assignments include: Providing technical assistance and direct support to senior-level executives on the design and implementation of strategic planning systems and management programs, utilizing CBP's application software.

Reviewing, coordinating, and overseeing major department-wide mission activities related to CBP software applications, including planning and conducting special studies or task forces.

Developing, implementing, and monitoring refined management information systems that focus on long and short-range plans, policies, and program goals.

Organizing, developing, and coordinating planning management efforts through briefings, presentations, and conferences for executive management.

Determining the applicability and effect of new or proposed legislation, executive orders, and directives, and preparing comments and recommendations for managerial considerations.
