Job Description

Summary

This job involves handling payroll for civilian employees in the Navy's Military Sealift Command, including processing time and attendance, managing leave requests, and ensuring accurate financial records.

It also requires providing customer service to employees on pay-related matters and auditing reports for errors.

A good fit would be someone with experience in payroll administration, strong attention to detail, and familiarity with federal regulations, ideally from a government or financial background.

Key Requirements

  • Customer service experience as a payroll representative

Full Job Description

You will serve as a FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT ANALYST in the COMPTROLLER DEPARTMENT (N8), DISBURSING, TRAVEL & PAYROLL (N84), DISBURSING & PAYROLL (N841), PAYROLL (N8412) of MILITARY SEALIFT COMMAND.

GS-09 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience performing Civilian Payroll Processing functions and Customer Service Representative duties which may include Entering Tax withholding, entering direct deposit information, entering Voluntary Leave Transfer Program (VLTP) donations, entering time and attendance in Navy ERP, processing mortgage eligibility forms, entering restored leave, family medical leave, and annual and sick leave for new hires.

Experience creating and maintaining payroll reports, identifying discrepancies, and performing time and attendance audits.

Experience interpreting and applying federal regulations relating to Civilian payroll functions, entitlements & financial responsibilities.

Experience working financial errors caused by the interface of ship time and attendance to Navy ERP.

Incumbent may be responsible for key supporting documentation retention in association with Ship timecards, time and attendance reports, and employee record updates.

GS-07 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

  • You will review and evaluate time, attendance, leave requests, control and report obligations and expenditures.
  • You will perform time and attendance audits.
  • You will provide information about, and interpret standard civilian payroll, tax withholding, accounting, and/or financial administrative procedures, practices, and regulations.
  • You will research and analyze guides to locate accounting, payroll and financial information identifying discrepancies and prepare summaries.
