This job involves hands-on maintenance and repair work on buildings, bridges, equipment, and machinery to keep Pennsylvania's roads and facilities safe and running smoothly.
You'll use skills in trades like carpentry, plumbing, and electrical work, often operating tools and heavy equipment outdoors.
It's a great fit for experienced tradespeople who enjoy physical labor and want stable, full-time work with the state government.

As a Maintenance Repairman 2, you will employ your manual skills and proficiency in the field to provide for the safety of the traveling public by conducting repairs and maintenance for buildings, grounds, structures, bridges, equipment, and machinery.
Specific trades that will be most often used include carpentry, masonry, electrical work, and plumbing.
Some examples of assignments involve installing light fixtures and electrical outlets, as well as repairing or replacing faucets, drains, water pipes, toilets, and drinking fountains.
Duties may also entail working with a bridge crew to maintain and repair structures, drainage culverts, bridges, and other roadway structures by building forms, pouring and finishing concrete, and painting surfaces in order to maintain and extend the useful life of these structures.
In order to efficiently execute duties, you must prioritize the safe operation of equipment such as forklifts, personal lifting devices, bucket trucks, and other similar equipment.
Furthermore, you will carry out manual labor using hand tools like shovels, rakes, hammers, and hand saws, as well as operate motorized equipment such as power saws, compressors, jackhammers, tampers, and pumps.
It is essential to select the appropriate tools and methods for each task to enhance efficiency and minimize wear and tear, while promptly reporting any missing or damaged equipment.
