Job Description

Summary

This seasonal job involves driving a bus to transport food and supplies for a summer lunch program serving kids in Nashville, from June 1 to July 31, with shifts running Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m.

to 3:30 p.m. You'll also handle basic vehicle maintenance, load and organize deliveries efficiently, and keep accurate records of trips.

***THIS IS A SEASONAL POSITION - Not Eligible for Benefits***


This is a seasonal position with Metro Action Commission's Summer Lunch Program. This position provides transportation services for the summer lunch program. Performs basic maintenance on vehicles as needed. Performs related duties as needed.

The position starts June 1st and ends July 31, 2026.

WORK HOURS: MONDAY - FRIDAY 7:00 A.M. - 3:30 P.M.

***Extensive Background Check test is performed on applicants for this position with MAC.***

Requirements

  • Receives assignments for food delivery, transport, transfer, or distribution
  • Retrieves, organizes and loads material and supplies for distribution to designated sites
  • Loads delivery vehicles in a space efficient manner; coordinates load according to priority and of order of destination to maximize trip time
  • Performs pre-trip and post trip inspections and observes all cleaning schedules of assigned delivery vehicle; adheres to established preventive maintenance & service schedules; maintains vehicle service logs
  • Maintains documentation such as logs/records detailing trip times and delivery tickets
  • Operates assigned vehicle to daily/weekly scheduled locations for pick-up and delivery activities
  • Reports perceived or potential vehicle defects in a time effective manner to the Nutrition Coordinator
  • Maintains accurate records related to the Summer Food Service Program
  • Assumes other job-related duties as requested

Qualifications

High School Diploma, GED, or HiSet Certification. Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) with a safe driving record within the past three (3) years.

All employees of the Metropolitan Government shall be residents of the State of Tennessee or become residents of the state within six (6) months of employment as a prerequisite to employment with the Metropolitan Government.
