Full Job Description

***THIS IS A SEASONAL POSITION - Not Eligible for Benefits - Adult Youth - Ages 18 - 24 yrs.***


This is a seasonal position with Metro Action Commission's Summer Food Program. This position is responsible for preparing and providing quality food and service during the eight-week summer lunch program. Performs related duties as required.


This position starts June 1st and ends July 31st, 2026

Work Hours: Monday - Friday 7:00 A.M. - 3:30 P.M.

Requirements

  • Assist in the preparation of daily breakfast and lunch for summer lunch program
  • Assist in developing and reviewing daily/weekly food service menu
  • Assist in assembling and distributing nutritional meals as coordinated by Nutrition Coordinator
  • Assist with cleaning and sanitation of service area
  • Assist in organizing, sorting and labeling meals per site as required
  • Understand nutritional needs of (disadvantaged) children
  • Responsible for monitoring and reporting equipment malfunctions
  • Responsible for understanding, adhering and preparing quality food based on the standards and procedures of temperature controls during food preparation
  • Understand menus and pre-package distribution of foods
  • Maintain high standards of sanitation in kitchen and serving areas
  • Demonstrate positive and professional work habits
  • Assume other job-related duties as requested

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED. Valid Driver License Candidates with accreditations earned in a foreign institute are encouraged to apply. Note: Per Metro Ordinance No. SO94-1078.

All employees of the Metropolitan Government shall be residents of the State of Tennessee or become residents of the state within six (6) months of employment as a prerequisite to employment with the Metropolitan Government.
