Classified-Exempt Position


Parks and Recreation/Hawks Nest State Park Under the supervision of the Park Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent of Hawks Nest State Park.

This employee will perform all duties required of a Lead Front Desk Clerk.

Manages daily front office operations, providing oversight of the lodge front desk and staff, and acts as the primary contact for group bookings, meetings, and high-level guest inquiries.

Responsibilities include scheduling staff, training new staff, providing performance feedback, handling complex complaints, coordinating group logistics, and enhancing guest satisfaction.

The employee will act as the primary contact for group reservations, including managing room blocks, coordinating special requests for group events, and ensuring smooth check-ins/check-outs for groups.

This role requires strong communication, leadership, and organization.

Accepts and generates guest reservations and cancellations; charges deposits; checks guests in and out of the lodge rooms; and answers guest requests by phone, email, and in person.

Acts as the information center for the park by answering questions and providing information about Hawks Nest State Park, other area parks, and regional attractions.

Maximize occupancy and guest room revenue. Reviews all contracts and agreements before applying payments to city ledger and is responsible for accurate room charges and bills.

This employee has primary administrative duties for the lodge property management and point of sale systems and related interfaces for third-party guest reservations and generates numerous statistical data reports.

The employee will maintain inventory of supplies needed to operate the front desk and will handle confidential information.

Will coordinate with other department heads to work together to make sure guest satisfaction is met. Responsible for all marketing literature throughout the lodge is up to date and stocked.

Will have gift shop and retail responsibilities. Performs all related duties as assigned. Regular attendance is required.

Qualifications

Training: Education equivalent to graduation from a four-year high school.

Experience: No previous experience necessary.
Substitution: A combination of completion of the eighth grade and one year of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in retail sales or reservation/registration-desk-related work may substitute for the training.
