WILDLIFE RESOURCES SECTION/ELKINS OPERATION CENTER: Under supervision of the Assistant Chief, employee manages nine state fish hatcheries in support of the Division of Natural Resources Fisheries Management Program. The hatchery system comprises seven coldwater and two warmwater hatcheries. The employee is responsible for direct supervision of nine Fish Culturists, one Wildlife Biologist, and one Secretary; planning and implementing fish production and distribution; managing hatchery upgrades; ensuring compliance with water quality standards; ensuring compliance with endangered species; developing and implementing fish health and biosecurity protocols; coordinating fish stocking needs and fish distribution with staff; developing hatchery plans; analyzing and interpreting data; preparing federal aid reports; writing technical reports and scientific publications; assisting the assistant chief in various administrative duties including purchasing; activity reporting; data management; and public outreach. Regular attendance is required. Performs related duties as required.

Qualifications

Training: Master of Science degree from an accredited college or university with a major in wildlife or fisheries biology, fish culture, conservation biology, natural resources, aquatic biology, botany, biological sciences or environmental sciences.

Preference will be given to educational and field experience as related to specific job postings.

AND

Experience: Six (6) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in wildlife, fishery management or related fields, two years of which must have been in a supervisory, administrative or professional capacity.
