The Attorney General’s Office is recruiting for three permanent full-time IT System Administrator - Entry positions in the Information Services Division.

These positions may be located in or around one of the three offices (Seattle, Spokane, or Tumwater, Washington) and are not represented by the Washington Federation of State Employees (WFSE).

IT System Admin – Entry Salary range 03IT: $72,816 - $97,968

IT Customer Support – Entry Salary range 01IT: $62,988 - $84,744
The base pay offered will take into account internal equity and may vary depending on the preferred candidate’s job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

About the Information Services Division

The Information Services Division (ISD) provides strategic technology leadership, support and consulting for legal technologies and platforms.

ISD leads the design, development, and delivery of all AGO technology systems and applications, including enterprise infrastructure, voice services and secure network environments.

The division also maintains the operations of software and cloud platforms (private and public) to provide AGO staff access to their confidential work product and communications, ensuring solutions are tailored to the AGO’s unique legal and operational needs.

ISD has multiple units that provide project management and business analysis service, electronic library services, custom software development, business intelligence, data management services, and eDiscovery litigation technical support.

Through rigorous governance and cybersecurity controls. ISD ensures compliance with state governance policies/standards and that all technology services function properly and securely.


Duties and Essential Functions of an IT Project Management - Journey

This position works in the System Operations team and plays a dynamic role in advancing the agency’s mission.

The incumbent will work in partnership with other employees, departments/divisions and external entities to provide holistic system administration services by seeking ways to integrate software programs and cloud services.

Some of the work may include:

System Administration of agency applications (including both Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS)and Software as a Service (SaaS))

  • Provides technical and administrative management of COTS and SaaS applications and related services. This includes installation, administration, troubleshooting and maintenance of applications and services required for agency business operations.
  • Manage the administration, configuration, maintenance, of COTS/SaaS for systems such as O365, Adobe, Zoom, SharePoint, Atlassian Jira, Filevine, Active Directory, user accounts, security settings, app permissions ensuring separation of duties.
  • Developtechnicalend-userinstructionsanddocumentationformanagedapplicationsandservicesandmay provide training on new or changed applications for both customers and department employees.
  • Provide working-level consultation and specialized analysis, design, development, installation, maintenance, programming, testing, quality assurance, troubleshooting, and/or problem resolution for agency mission-critical applications.

Participate in strategy and planning activities

  • Work with colleagues and peers, including teams throughout the agency, and the Supervisor to identify and document requisite service levels.

In this job posting, we are open to considering those eligible at the IT Customer Support – Entry level who are interested in learning on-the-job with the goal of moving into the IT System Admin - Entry role.

You’ll gain the competencies and skills needed to successfully perform your duties while being supported by your supervisor, manager, and coworkers.

Upon successful completion of your training and demonstrating knowledge of the position requirements, you will be promoted into the IT System Admin – Entry level.

Required Qualifications

To qualify at the IT Customer Support – Entry level:

At least three (3) years of experience analyzing, installing and/or maintaining computer software applications, hardware, or telecommunications equipment or providing customer or technical support in information technology

OR

An Associates or Vocational degree in a computer related area AND at least two (2) years of experience analyzing, installing and/or maintaining computer software applications, hardware, or telecommunications equipment or providing customer or technical support in information technology

OR

A Bachelors degree in a computer related area AND one (1) year of experience analyzing, installing and/or maintaining computer software applications, hardware, or telecommunications equipment or providing customer or technical support in information technology.

To qualify at the IT System Admin – Entry level:

Six (6) years of consultative, administrative experience in information technology analysis, system maintenance, and/or troubleshooting/problem resolution.

OR

An Associates or Vocational degree in a computer related area AND at least three (3) years of consultative, administrative experience in information technology analysis, system maintenance, and/or troubleshooting/problem resolution.

OR

A Bachelor's degree in computer related area AND two (2) years of consultative, administrative experience in information technology analysis, system maintenance, and/or troubleshooting/problem resolution.

AND

At least two (2) years of experience configuring and troubleshooting SaaS based applications such as Adobe, ZOOM, Atlassian Jira, Microsoft 365, Azure Active Directory, SharePoint Online, or other applications.

Progressive experience independently and proactively demonstrating strong knowledge of systems administration, authoring scripts, configuration management, operating systems, backup/recovery procedures, and system performance monitoring tools.

Progressive experience independently and proactively demonstrating communicating skills clearly with both technical and non-technical audiences both orally and in writing with specific proficiency in writing technical user documentation.

Skills and Abilities

The most competitive candidates will possess the following desired qualifications:

Strong interpersonal communication, customer contact skills, ability to interact with people at all levels of the organization, ability to both self-manage and work with a team, ability to be flexible and deal with changing priorities.

Detail oriented.

Advanced knowledge, skill and ability to troubleshoot technical issues and the knowledge of active directory, Zoom, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, SharePoint and application-level troubleshooting skills.

2 years’ experience in a Service Desk environment.

Experience in a quality assurance environment creating a test plan, documenting defects in a reproducible way.

Ability to multitask between multiple tools and systems and apply information and knowledge to customer situations. A+, Network+, Microsoft Certifications.

Law firm work experience and an understanding of how to support the delivery of legal services.
