This position is located with Bonneville Power Administration (BPA), in the Desktop Delivery (JNRD) team of End User Services (JNR), Enterprise Technology Operations Services (JN), Information Technology (J).
A successful candidate in the System Administrator, Application Virtualization Specialist position will serve as an IT specialist and technical expert for virtual Application management using Microsoft's AppV server.
BASIC REQUIREMENT: Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate.
For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A qualified candidate's resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-12) in the Federal service.
Specialized experience is defined as experience in 1) managing the end-to-end lifecycle of Microsoft App-V server infrastructure (e.g., installation, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting) in a large-scale enterprise environment; 2) creating, sequencing, deploying, and updating virtualized application packages, ensuring they function correctly and comply with government security baselines and standards; and 3) developing and utilizing advanced PowerShell scripts (or similar scripting languages) to automate application deployments, updates, and configurations, creating a simplified and reproducible user experience.
"Experience" refers to paid and unpaid experience.
Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations.
Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

As a System Administrator, Application Virtualization Specialist, you will: Install, configure and deploy Microsoft App-V Server in an enterprise environment.
Coordinate monthly updates to deployed software and packages to meet requirements outlined in secure baselines and standards for use in a government environment.
Consult with applications developers to determine the effect on end user applications resulting from changes to the operating environment, e.g., new software or hardware installations.
Lead/conduct studies designed to identify potential improvements in the way information technology is applied to key business functions.
Assess new systems design methodologies to improve software quality. Accurately represent customer requirements. Present recommendations for adoption of new methodologies and lead implementation.
