Full Job Description

This employee will be responsible for coordinating and supervising the operation of the Land Water and Conservation Division's (LWC) Conservation Districts program.

Job Duties Include:
  • Overseeing the state's Soil and Water Conservation Districts and Watershed Districts Programs.
  • Implementing program development for the Soil and Water Conservation Districts, Watershed Districts, and SCDNR Conservation Districts Section.
  • Serving as liaison between conservation districts and their local, state, regional and federal agencies, news media and the general public.
  • Overseeing the SC Envirothon Program.
  • Maintaining, enhancing, and establishing partnerships for Soil and Water Conservation Districts.
  • Providing administrative reports, attending staff meetings, implementing agency business functions as necessary and other duties as assigned.

Requirements

A bachelor's degree and three (3) years of relevant program experience.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) in agriculture, environmental or natural resource management, or other relevant field. Direct experience with Soil and Water Conservation Districts preferred. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to coordinate, supervise, and evaluate the work of subordinate personnel. Ability to coordinate and conduct conferences, lead discussions, make presentations, prepare reports, and instruct training groups. Knowledge of the organization and function of the conservation districts. Knowledge of the agency's mission, programs, and objectives. Knowledge of state and federal legislation relative to natural resource management. Ability to interpret and apply rules and regulations.
