This is a South Carolina Department of Social Services Internal Position. Only current South Carolina Department of Social Services employees are eligible for this position. The selected candidate may be based in any county with occasional travel to Columbia.
Job Duties:- The CAPSS (Child and Adult Protective Services Systems) Trainer serves as the training coordinator for the the Agency's regional office by participating in planning, designing, implementing, conducting and coordinating training.
Coordinates and delivers in-person and virtual training programs for Child Welfare staff. Develops and organizes instructional materials, content, and methods to meet learning objectives.
Provides advanced and specialized training, including serving as a backup trainer for pre-service certification programs and participating in agency training initiatives.
Participates in agency training initiatives and contributes to cross-functional projects, such as CAPSS work-groups.
- Coordinates curriculum development by reviewing, editing, and updating training materials. Evaluates existing curriculum for effectiveness and recommends improvements. Collaborates with IT and CAPSS to ensure alignment with system functionality and program requirements.
- Assists CWS Training Division by providing assistance when training needs are identified.
- Serves as a training consultant for assigned program areas and contributes to strategic planning efforts for Staff Development and Training (SD&T) initiatives.
- Coordinates training logistics including scheduling, securing locations and equipment, and managing classroom or virtual training environments. Monitors attendance and ensures effective delivery of training sessions.
- Will be required to perform Red Cross shelter/emergency response duties as directed.
Requirements
A Master's Degree and one (1) year of professional experience in social services programs, correctional, education, business administration, general administrative management, or relevant program experience; or a Bachelor's Degree and three (3) years of professional experience in social services programs, correctional, education, business administration, general administrative management, or relevant program experience.
Qualifications
Knowledge of DSS Policy is preferred and how CAPSS supports the practice. Certified in Child Welfare Services.
