Job Description

Summary

This job involves managing and maintaining secure systems that control who can access the Census Bureau's computer networks and data, both in the office and online, including setting up user accounts, fixing login problems, and ensuring everything stays secure and up to date.

Full Job Description

This vacancy is for an Information Technology Specialist (Network) position in the Office of Telecommunications located at the U.S. Census Bureau Headquarters in Suitland, Maryland.

The Census Bureau is accessible from the Metro Rail Green Line - Suitland Station.

Specialized Experience: For the GS-13, you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 in the Federal service.

Experience for this position includes: Supporting and maintaining enterprise identity and access management platforms including directory services, multi-factor authentication systems, single sign-on integrations, and user federation across cloud and on-premises environments; Writing automation scripts or configuration-as-code to deploy and manage identity components and performing user account provisioning, access reviews, and role assignments; Troubleshooting authentication failures, access errors, and integration issues; Monitoring system health and applying patches, configuration updates, and security remediations; and Following secure configuration guidelines and compliance requirements during implementation and operational tasks.

In addition to the above specialized experience, your resume must demonstrate one year of Information Technology (IT) related experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating the following four competencies, as defined: Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.

Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

  • Assists in the installation, configuration, and day-to-day maintenance of identity and access management platforms, including user account lifecycle tools and single sign-on systems hosted on-premises and in the cloud.
  • Supports the analysis, design, and upkeep of automated account provisioning and deprovisioning workflows across enterprise systems and directories.
  • Identifies and remediates user access issues, misconfigured permissions, and security findings in accordance with organizational security standards and policies.
  • Assists with the development of identity and access management requirements, standards, policies, and procedures.
