Full Job Description

In this position you will serve as an Information Technology Specialist with a primary focus on application, database, and server administration on laboratory and cloud hosted infrastructure, providing mission support for multiple agencies in a combined services environment.

Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement, including specialized experience and/or education, as defined below.

FOR THE GS-13 LEVEL: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-12 level) that may have been obtained in the private or public (local, county, state, Federal) sectors which demonstrates: Providing IT technical services and operational support for IT systems and infrastructure in a medical or scientific and laboratory environment.

Supporting and working with Enterprise Operating Systems, applications, and databases, including installation, configuration, performance tuning, troubleshooting, and operational support.

Gathering, analyzing, and evaluating customers' technical information to develop recommendations for solutions to help better achieve the organization's objectives.

In addition, all applicants qualifying based on experience must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.

Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

Note: There is no education substitution for this grade level.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Major Duties:

  • The duties may include, but are not limited to:
  • Performing work that involves the implementation, configuration, and administration of server systems used to host applications, websites, databases, and services.
  • Acting a as technical lead for the NBAF application, webhosting, and database systems.
  • Providing system administration for the NBAF IT activities related to various server and database systems.
  • Participating as a team member or leader along with other IT specialists, customers, or support personnel on system development or redevelopment projects.
