This job involves handling everyday human resources tasks at a correctional facility, such as managing payroll, recruiting new staff like correctional officers, processing benefits and leave requests, and keeping employee records up to date.
It requires working closely with other departments to follow laws and policies while dealing with sensitive information.
A good fit would be someone organized, good at communicating, and experienced in HR or administrative work, ideally with a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
Under general supervision, the Human Resources Associate within a facility performs professional human resources work.
This position will work closely with the Division of Administrative Services to analyze information and determine appropriate procedures within law, rule, and policy in the administration of various human resources functions.
The responsibilities include but are not limited to completing, processing, and maintaining all forms, reports, files concerning Human Resources work in the areas of recruitment, employee relations, benefits, payroll, timekeeping, personnel records, employment, and classification.
Duties to include overseeing all aspects of payroll to ensure all time and leave is accurate; preparing disciplinary and adverse action correspondence; processing FMLA; oversee Workers’ Compensation claims; initiate processing for all leave of absences; recruiting to include travel to career events and job fairs; Correctional Officer testing and background checks; interviewing, hiring, and onboarding.
Will utilize state operating systems such as Kronos, NeoGov, and OASIS. The applicant must have excellent communication skills and the ability to organize and prioritize assignments.
Must have the ability to independently carry out assignments of a complex and confidential nature.
Knowledge of federal, state and department laws, policies and rules including Division of Personnel rules, policies, and procedures. Knowledge of organizational structure and chain of command.
Performs related duties as assigned.
