This job is for a Human Resources Assistant in the U.S.

Full Job Description

This vacancy is for a GS-0203-7, Human Resources Assistant located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, PPC ADVANCEMENTS BRANCH in TOPEKA, Kansas.

To qualify at the GS-07 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-06 grade level in the federal sector.

Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.

Examples of specialized experience include performing the following types of tasks on a regular basis.

Ability to comprehend military advancements, evaluations and other HR data, using policy, laws and regulations, to identify errors and perform accurate corrective actions.

Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, often explaining complex policies tactfully.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to discover and address unique cases and data discrepancies.

Using Microsoft programs not limited to Office, Word, Excel, Access, PeopleSoft and other applications as needed. Making suggestions to supervisor as requested concerning all processes.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Major Duties:

You will serve as a/an Human Resources Assistant and be responsible for supporting the Advancements Branch of the Pay and Personnel Center (PPC).

Key duties include working with and troubleshooting and maintaining supplemental advancement eligibility lists in a Human Resource Information System.

Reviewing records to discover and correct military HR data errors and performing advanced data analysis.

The role involves analyzing data, developing reports, and assisting with office automation efforts.

Additional responsibilities include providing administrative support and ensuring compliance with Coast Guard regulations and policies.

Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team.

Typical work assignments include: Accounting for all inbound requests for placement on the Supplemental Advancement Eligibility List and Striker Eligibility List.

Assisting in maintaining the eligibility criteria on the non Servicewide/Supplemental Advancements Boards, arranging for the placement of the list on the PSC website, and assist in the management of the advancements section of the PSC website.

Providing data analysis of work of the branch (HQ Master Eligibility List, reports, queries, etc.), develops reports, data collection methodology and data collections tools.

Serving as backup technical expert in determining the need for evaluations and processing the evaluations in Direct Access Making suggestions to supervisor a requested concerning all processes involved with the supplemental advancement and striker processes, enlisted evaluations, office automations, data analysis and website management.

Providing administrative support for the Advancement Business line as a required collateral duty.
