Job Description

Summary

This job involves helping people apply for and qualify for government aid programs like food assistance, medical coverage, and emergency help by interviewing them and managing their cases.

It's a full-time role in Mineral County, West Virginia, where you'll handle client information, make eligibility decisions, and connect people to other support services.

A good fit would be someone with a bachelor's degree or relevant experience in customer service or social work who is organized, empathetic, and comfortable with detailed paperwork.

  • Skills in determining eligibility for economic assistance programs and maintaining client caseloads
  • Proficiency in referring clients to supportive services and agencies
  • Capability to obtain repayment for erroneously issued benefits

Full Job Description


Under general supervision, perform at the full performance level in processing applications, ascertaining eligibility for, and overseeing a caseload for a variety of economic assistance programs including, but not limited to SNAP, various Medicaid programs, Emergency Assistance/LIEAP, and School Clothing Vouchers. Schedule telephone and face-to-face interviews. Competently conduct personal interviews with clients regarding their personal, financial, and social information. Determine eligibility for services, maintain an up-to-date client caseload, and refer clients to various supportive services and agencies when needed. May obtain repayment from clients who have been issued benefits erroneously. Performs related work as required

Qualifications

Training: Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
Substitution: Any combination of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience providing direct client services such as interviewing clients, customers or the public, and evaluating the data against established standards and guidelines may substitute for the required training on a year-for-year basis.

OR
Full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience performing customer service, telemarketing, retail or clerical work may substitute for the required training on a year-for-year basis.

OR
Successful completion of college coursework from a regionally accredited college or university may substitute for the required training on a year-for-year basis. Every thirty (30) credit hours of education will equal one (1) year of training.

OR
Experience in Economic Services work requiring program eligibility decisions may substitute for the required training at the rate of one (1) year of experience will equal (2) years of training.
Special Requirement: A valid driver's license may be required.
