Requirements

As a Highway Equipment Manager 2, you will oversee the management of the Central Office's fleet, including the repair and allocation of vehicles, the operations of the component re-manufacturing shop, the organization of the department's Heavy Equipment Auctions, and the seasonal repair program for bridge cranes.

Additionally, you will serve as the Building and Grounds Maintenance Coordinator within the Fleet Management Division.

Your responsibilities will include developing, communicating, and maintaining fleet quotas and replacement cycles for the Central Office, as well as monitoring the usage of all vehicles assigned to Central Office personnel.

You will ensure adherence to maintenance policies and procedures for all equipment, while also establishing and maintaining a tracking system for engine rebuilds and replacements based on fleet inventory.

Furthermore, you will be tasked with monitoring and adjusting engine production in response to demand and replacement trends, ensuring that the fleet operates efficiently and effectively.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • This position may be eligible for alternate work schedule (AWS).
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time.

    In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.

    If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience as a Highway Equipment Manager 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Three years of experience in the repair and maintenance of gasoline and diesel engines and other components of heavy highway maintenance and construction vehicles and equipment including two years of such experience in a supervisory or administrative capacity; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Condition of Employment:

  • This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class C non-commercial driver's License which is not under suspension.
