Requirements

In this role, you will oversee and implement a range of projects from their initial scope through to the development of plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E), drawing on the expertise of your team along with various other forms of resources.

You will employ engineering principles to guide your decision-making throughout the project lifecycle.

Your responsibilities will include the preparation and evaluation of PS&E packages for projects of differing complexities, which involve detailed highway plans, design calculations, construction specifics, quantity estimates, maintenance-of-traffic strategies, pavement marking layouts, erosion and sediment control measures, and cross-sectional designs.


Additionally, you will review plans and specifications, finalize engineering submissions, and conduct calculations for utility relocations, applying your knowledge of engineering standards and codes to propose safety improvements for construction initiatives.

Moreover, you will leverage your engineering expertise to perform drainage calculations for the design of new roadway drainage systems and the retrofitting of existing ones.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days per week.

    In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.

    If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Uniontown. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Highway Designer (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Five years of professional experience in highway design work including six months of CADD operation; and an Associate's Degree in civil engineering, drafting, or design technology; or
  • Two years of professional civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a closely related engineering discipline; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
