This job involves managing and maintaining a fleet of heavy highway equipment for Pennsylvania's Department of Transportation in Schuylkill County, including planning budgets, supervising repair teams, and ensuring everything runs smoothly for road safety.
It's a leadership role where you'll oversee mechanics, schedule preventive maintenance, and handle facility upkeep.
A good fit would be someone with hands-on experience in vehicle repairs and a knack for budgeting and team supervision in a fast-paced environment.

As a County Equipment Manager, you will be responsible for planning, directing, and overseeing the highway equipment maintenance program within Schuylkill County Maintenance Organization.
Your duties will encompass analyzing and developing the county's fleet model and budget, as well as managing the maintenance, repair, and dispatch of a diverse fleet that includes heavy construction and automotive equipment.
You will supervise the equipment repair facilities and their personnel, ensuring that the buildings, grounds, stockpiles, and maintenance areas are well-maintained.
Direct oversight will be provided to mechanic supervisors and shop staff which may also include High School Interns, to ensure that operations run smoothly.
Additionally, you will prepare, schedule, and implement a preventative maintenance program for both the assigned equipment and buildings, while also reviewing the work of mechanics and garage personnel to assess the quality and quantity of their output.
Regular inspections of the equipment will be conducted to identify any needs for replacement, repair, or maintenance, and you will be tasked with developing and monitoring the equipment budget.
Other priorities entail maintaining garage facilities in a clean and organized manner, as well as administering training, testing, and certification programs for equipment operators.
