Job Description

Summary

This job involves working as an engineer on naval projects, particularly helping design, build, and test advanced systems for submarines to solve tough technical challenges.

You'll team up with experts from the military, government, and private companies to ensure these systems are reliable and efficient.

Key Requirements

  • At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-11 or NH-02 in professional engineering
  • Expertise in solving complex engineering problems, such as design, integration, robotics, software architecture, hydrodynamics, HM&E systems, platform integration, structural integrity, or vessel stability
  • Experience providing technical support for submarine mission systems
  • Ability to conduct engineering studies, feasibility analyses, and provide recommendations for improvements
  • Skills in acquisition, development, fielding, and sustainment of mission systems, including standardization, configuration management, risk management, design, test and evaluation, and modeling/simulation
  • Strong communication skills to share technical information, issues, risks, and solutions with diverse stakeholders
  • Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams with civilians, military, and contractors

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NH-02 pay band (or GS-11 equivalent) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional engineer providing technical support in the study, identification and solutioning of complex engineering problems (e.g., design and integration, robotics, software architecture, hydrodynamics, HM&E systems, platform integration, structural integrity, or vessel stability) for submarine mission systems.

  • You will work with a programmatic and technical team of civilians, military, and contractors in the prototyping, design, integration, production, and testing of submarine-integrated specialized mission systems.
  • You will provide technical data and advice to ensure reliability and accuracy in the identification, development, and implementation of solutions to complex engineering issues and conduct research in support of these solutions.
  • You will conduct and report on engineering studies/projects, feasibility studies, and provide recommendations for improvements and increased efficiency on projects.
  • You will support the acquisition development, and fielding and sustainment of mission systems (e.g., standardization, commonality, configuration and risk management, design, test and evaluation, and modeling and simulation).
  • You will communicate technical information, issues, risks, and solutions with internal and external stakeholders across Government and industry, and report on engineering studies.
  • You will work with multidisciplinary teams to support complex engineering solutions.
