The Wayne County Department of Human Services is seeking a reliable, motivated Food Service Manager to lead, coordinate, and evaluate the daily operations of the dietary department.

In this role, you will ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, maintain high-quality service standards, and promote efficient, effective operations that support the well-being of those we serve.

Requirements

This position involves first-level supervisory work overseeing and coordinating food service operations within a Commonwealth or county-operated facility.

The Food Service Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, and supervising the preparation and service of meals, ensuring all dietary functions meet established nutritional standards, sanitation requirements, and regulatory guidelines.

Responsibilities include assigning and reviewing staff duties, maintaining production schedules, monitoring inventory and food costs, and ensuring full compliance with health and safety regulations.

The role provides direct supervision to food service personnel and participates in staff training and performance evaluations.

Work is performed under the general guidance of an administrative or dietary services supervisor and is evaluated through reports, inspections, and the overall effectiveness of food service operations.

Related duties may be assigned as needed.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 6:30 AM to 2:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Employees may be required to travel overnight or outside the county for meetings or training. Work hours may vary and can include evenings, weekends, or holidays depending on operational needs.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

QUALIFICATIONS

Desirable Preparation for Work:

  • Experience supervising food preparation and service in an institutional food service operation; or any equivalent combination of experience and/or training.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.


Legal Requirements:

  • You must pass a background investigation.
  • A conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
