The Department of Corrections (DOC), State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Forest is seeking an energetic, enthusiastic, self-motivated person with the required experience to work as a Corrections Food Service Instructor. Join the DOC in their mission to reduce criminal behavior by providing individualized treatment and education to offenders, resulting in successful community reintegration through accountability and positive change.
Requirements
In this role, you will help run the food service operations at the State Correctional Institution at Forest by leading and guiding inmate workers. You will teach inmates through hands-on training in many areas of food service. This includes food preparation, cooking, baking, serving, cleaning, using equipment safely, and keeping work areas sanitary. You will also ensure meals are prepared correctly, follow recipes, and are served on time. You will inspect kitchen areas, equipment, and food to ensure they meet all safety and sanitation rules. You will plan and review inmate work assignments, complete performance evaluations, and maintain all work records. You will also be responsible for the care, custody, and control of inmates while they are working.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 40-hour work week
- Work hours to be determined:
- 1st shift - 4:30 AM to 12:30 PM, rotating days off
- 2nd shift - 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with rotating days off
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary:
Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $47,925.00 (before taxes).
- This position is eligible for full benefits at age 50 or 55.

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Two years of experience in food preparation, production, or service of a variety of complete meal menus in an institutional food service operation, food catering service, restaurant, or in a similar large-scale food production operation; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Additional Requirements:
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements:
- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
