The Opportunity: As a Fiscal Analyst 1 (FA1), you will validate, prepare, and process vendor payments using multiple systems.

Additionally, you will collaborate with state and local agencies, tribes, and other organizations in communities across the state of Washington.

• Work in partnership with an assigned lead worker to process in the Agency Financial Reporting System (AFRS), payments to providers by reviewing for accuracy, validity, and compliance with state, federal, and agency policies.
• Research, determine validity, and process requests for reissuance of provider warrants.
• Manage monthly Purchase Order closing used by the purchase cards. Track and maintain credit card payments.
• Analyze, interpret, and resolve discrepancies daily for assigned in-process reports from the Agency Financial Reporting System (AFRS).
• Monitor all finance inbox activities to include ensuring appropriate routing of incoming bills to accounting staff and coordinating with providers any discrepancies with bills received.
• Review and certify daily warrant register reports to ensure accuracy of expenditure coding, amount of disbursements, and payees. Excluding disbursements that are a result of batches processed by the employee.
• Reviews, analyze, verify, and correct accounting data within the Agency Financial Reporting System.
• Ensure all desk manual procedures are up to date and accurate.
• Participate in staff meetings by serving as a resource, offering solutions to problems that arise, and using the information gathered at the meetings to improve job performance.

What we are looking for:
Equivalent education/experience (three years total).

OR

An Associate’s degree, and one year of relevant experience.

AND

• The ability to take action to learn and grow.
• The ability to take action to meet the needs of others.

In addition to those required qualifications, our ideal applicant will also have some or all of the following:

Bachelor’s degree, which includes at least 18 quarter or 12 semester hours of accounting, auditing or budgeting.

Professional experience may substitute for education but not usually for the credit hours.

A Master’s degree in a financial related field, certification as a Public Accountant, Internal Auditor, Certified Governmental Financial Manager or Management Accountant can be substituted for professional experience.

Demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills.

Demonstrate ability to work independently and in a team.

Demonstrate knowledge of financial terms and principles.

Previously demonstrated experience interpreting payment documents for compliance with contractual terms.

Previously demonstrated experience preparing, compiling, and distributing fiscal reports.

Previously demonstrated ability to process large quantities of fiscal data with consistency, accuracy, and efficiency.
