This position is located in the Washington Headquarters Services (WHS), Financial Management Directorate, Accounting Division.
This division is responsible for providing financial reporting for allocations for the Office of the Secretary of War (OSW), WHS, Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS), WHS supported organizations and other DoW activities.
In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below.
You may qualify at the GS-07 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement: One year of experience in the same or similar work equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-05).
Candidates for this position must clearly demonstrate in their resume that they possess specialized experience in: Applying knowledge of accounting principles, procedures, and techniques sufficient to perform a full range of conventional accounting assignments.
Analyzing system outputs and reports to identify abnormal financial data. Applying good communication skills, both written and verbal, to prepare reports and provide in briefings.
OR Possess one full year of graduate level education which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position, OR Successful completion of the requirements for a bachelor's degree that meets the requirements for Superior Academic Achievement.
OR A combination of the education and experience listed above.

This position is being filled under Direct Hire Authority (DHA) in accordance with Section 1109 of FY 2020 NDAA; P.L. 116-92 and Section 9905 of Title 5, U.S.C.
Typical work assignments may include the following: Performs multi-faceted financial analysis and account management and reconciles accounts across current and prior fiscal years for OSW, WHS, and other supported DoW agencies.
Investigates and resolves the most complex financial management issues, such as systemic transaction errors, corrects unmatched disbursements, and identifies the root cause of data anomalies in financial reports.
Analyzes the output of these automated tools to identify processing failures or exceptions, troubleshooting errors, and initiating corrective actions to ensure all transactions are posted correctly.
Secures appropriate documentation to make entries in the accounting system to resolve issues.
Trains customers, responds to data calls and requests from customers, and identifies accounting or system errors.
