Base salary range: $147,649 - $221,900

Note: Actual salary includes locality pay (15-40%+ depending on location).
This entry-level role involves shadowing experienced agents to learn how to investigate tax violations, collect overdue taxes, and educate businesses on compliance rules for things like fuel, business, and tobacco taxes in Pennsylvania.
You'll spend time in the field visiting sites and helping enforce tax laws while building skills in investigations and collections.
It's a great fit for someone with a few years in tax-related work or collections who is detail-oriented, enjoys problem-solving, and wants to start a career in government enforcement.

As a Field Enforcement Agent 1, you will be observing and assisting experienced agents in the field to gain technical experience and skills necessary to conduct criminal and tax investigations of businesses and individuals.
Work involves learning collection techniques and procedures such as the explanation of tax rules, regulations, reporting requirements, remittance obligations, and penalties for non-compliance.
You will be required to enforce compliance of tax laws and regulations for all taxes administered under BETA through the collection of delinquent taxes and missing returns.
In this role, you will also have the opportunity to participate in field activities as part of canvassing to determine if unregistered businesses are operating without appropriate licenses as well as participate in taxpayer education via the New Registration Outreach.

This position will have access to Federal Tax Information (FTI) and is subject to the provisions of IRS Publication 1075 (Pub 1075) which requires you to pass an enhanced background check prior to beginning employment.
