This job involves working as a counselor in a Pennsylvania state prison to help inmates address behavioral issues, adjust to life behind bars, and prepare for life after release through one-on-one guidance, referrals, and planning.

As a Corrections Counselor 2, you will provide professional counseling and casework services to inmates with behavioral and adjustment issues.
You will interview inmates to facilitate their institutional adjustment, assist with issues that are inherent in a correctional setting, and provide encouragement to help inmates develop a sense of dignity and responsibility.
You will also make referrals and guide inmates to expand their social, educational, and vocational skills.
This role requires a genuine desire to facilitate positive behavioral change that will lead to successful community reintegration.
Other responsibilities include developing, maintaining, and presenting records and reports for managing an inmate caseload.
In addition, maintain records and reports, participate in parole planning, and recommend Community Corrections Center placement.
