Base salary range: $62,107 - $80,737
Typical requirements: 1 year specialized experience at GS-10. Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or 3 years graduate study.
Note: Actual salary includes locality pay (15-40%+ depending on location).
This job involves working as a mechanical engineering technician in a naval shipyard, where you'll handle the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of equipment like cranes and rigging systems used in ship operations.
You'll also create technical documents, analyze ways to improve designs and procedures, and test new or upgraded ship systems to ensure they work properly.
It's a great fit for someone with hands-on experience in mechanical systems from the military, shipbuilding, or industrial maintenance who enjoys problem-solving in a technical team environment.
You will serve as a ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (MECHANICAL) in the ENGINEERING AND PLANNING DEPARTMENT, CODE 260.3 or CODE 294S, of PSNS and IMF.
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: providing technical engineering services involving the maintenance, repair and troubleshooting of mechanical systems on weight handling equipment, material handling and rigging equipment used to support shipyard operations.
