Note: Actual salary includes locality pay (15-40%+ depending on location).
This job involves leading a team of technicians in maintaining and troubleshooting propulsion control systems on Navy ships, particularly the DDG-51 class, while providing expert technical support for urgent repairs and system tests in Rota, Spain.
It requires hands-on experience with shipboard equipment and guiding junior staff on safety and teamwork.

You will serve as a LEAD ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (CONTROLS) in the Engineering Department, Main Propulsion and Electrical Division, Rota, Spain.
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the area of DDG-51 class and other Propulsion Control Systems 2) Extensive practical knowledge and onboard, hands-on experience in shipboard Propulsion Controls System 3) Professional knowledge of analytical and diagnostic techniques, including use of signal generators, frequency converters, Megger meter, multimeters, Simpson analog meters, available to test all associated Controls equipment and auxiliary support equipment 4) Knowledge of DoD, agency and local policies, procedures, processing standards, regulations, directives and requirements related to Propulsion Controls Systems to assist in development of guidance and procedures to identify vulnerabilities, and analyze potential violations or problems by reviewing audit trails and log files.
