This position supports the agency's Data Modernization Initiative (DMI) efforts by increasing and improving data availability and access to data for decision making. Additionally, this position will assist epidemiologists and collaborate with IT staff in developing and deploying Research Electronic Data Capture (RedCap) projects as needs arise. Participates in the development and roll-out of a new and more robust Electronic Disease Surveillance System (EDSS), including data validation.

Participates in data management and validation efforts for a new Electronic Disease Surveillance System (EDSS). Develop, modify, maintain, and run R and Python scripts to prepare data for analysis and visualization and respond to data requests. Cross-trains staff to ensure sustainability of these functions. Develop and support RedCap projects for routine or ad hoc needs.

Performs other duties as required.

Requirements

State Minimum Requirements: A bachelor's degree and professional experience related to the position.

Institutions of Higher Learning must be recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.

Agency Additional Requirements:

Experience with public health surveillance systems. Ability to program and analyze data using R and Python. Working knowledge of RedCap. Ability to create, modify, and maintain data products in Power BI. Ability to communicate in oral and written form. Ability to collaborate effectively as part of a team. Ability to manage time and meet reasonable deadlines. Understand and demonstrate methods for protecting confidential data.

Qualifications

Degree in epidemiology, biostatistics, mathematics, data science, or a closely related field and relevant working experience. Knowledge of programming languages.
