Requirements

As a Corrections Plumbing Trade Instructor, you will lead a vocational program by supervising and instructing inmates through structured classroom learning and hand-on training. You will be responsible for delivering a specialized curriculum that covers water distribution, drainage, heating, and fire sprinkler systems while ensuring the efficient operation of the facility's infrastructure. Additionally, you will maintain order and discipline, manage daily work schedules, and oversee inmate crews in the completion of plumbing work orders. Your role also includes documenting inmate progress and attendance, as well as conducting thorough inspections of all completed assignments to ensure they meet professional industry standards.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
  • Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday.
  • This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $51,868.00 (before taxes).

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Five years of experience in the inspection, maintenance, repair, assembly, and installation of pipes, fittings, and fixtures used in heating, water, and drainage systems; or
  • Completion of an approved apprenticeship in the plumbing trade; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes one year of journey level work in the plumbing trade.

  • You must successfully complete basic training in Elizabethtown, PA.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
