The Department of Corrections, State Correctional Institution at Greene is seeking a creative and highly motivated painter who enjoys teaching to join our team as a Corrections Painting Trade Instructor.

With our team, you will supervise and instruct inmates in the painting trade during both structured classroom sessions and an on-the-job training program.

Requirements

As a Painting Trade Instructor for the Department of Corrections, you will be responsible for providing on-the-job training and shop instruction of inmates in the painting trade at your assigned institutions.


You will be instructing inmates in the practices, methods, and procedures of the painting trade.

This includes demonstrating and explaining the methods, procedures, materials, and tools used in hanging wallpaper and vinyl wall coverings.

You will also provide instruction on coating, inspecting, repairing, and maintaining the surfaces of walls, ceilings, floors, roofs, fences, cabinets, furniture, metal work, fixtures, signs, and woodwork.

Our team will rely on you to provide supervision, security, and custody for inmates assigned to work detail.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hours per week.
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday.
  • This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Four years of experience in mixing and applying paint, stain, and other finishes to a variety of building surfaces; or
  • Completion of an approved apprenticeship in the painting trade; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes one year of journey level work in the painting trade.


Other Requirements:

  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
