Full Job Description

Number of Vacancies: One (1)

Make your job COUNT as a Corrections Facility Coordinator 1 (Post Office) at the Denmar Correctional Center and Jail located in Pocahontas County, West Virginia. Under general supervision, performs work at the full performance level providing postal services for Denmar Correctional Center & Jail staff and the inmate population. Schedules mail delivery and pick-up services, process all incoming and outgoing mail to include but not limited to: search mail for contraband; write receipts for confiscated property; collect vouchers from inmates for postage, money to be sent home, and catalog orders; process certified mail, return receipt request, and insure mail as requested. Open and copy all inmate mail that is delivered to the facility (except legal mail). Scan mail for information on possible security issues and forward to security staff. Will be required to learn and fill in for other Corrections Facility Coordinator 1 positions under general operations to include but not limited to: State Shop, Laundry, Central Receiving and Distribution of all incoming packages for the facility. Assist with both fixed assets and supply inventories. May require supervising four to six inmate workers. Follow all State and Federal rules and regulations pertaining to post office operations. Comply with all departmental policies, institutional operating procedures, and American Correctional Association (ACA) standards in post office operations. This is a general operations position and may be required to work in any area under the direction of the Associate Superintendent 2 of Operations. May be required to work security post as part of regular duties and all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Training: Graduation from high school or equivalent.

Experience: Four years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in the area of assignment, one year of which must have been in a lead worker capacity.
Substitution: Coursework from an accredited college or university may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis for up to four years of experience.
