Full Job Description

Under general supervision, performs work at the full performance level in the implementation and evaluation of policies and practices of the WV Division of Corrections at the Salem Corrections Center. Position serves as the staff specialist to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations relating to the inmate records management. Performs a full range of specialized tasks relating to the records area to include development and implementation of action plans to achieve desired results, coordination and collaboration with inter and intra agency personnel, and review of work to support staff. Although regulations, methods and procedures in the inmate record area are available, employee may exercise independent judgement and latitude in the work performed. Position will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the records department to include all supervision and evaluation of employees, scheduling and all other duties assigned or required. This position may be assigned or cross-trained within the facility with other corrections program specialists as needed per the warden. May be required to perform other job duties as required.

Qualifications

Training: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in criminal justice, corrections, social work or related behavioral or social science field.

OR

Substitution: Additional full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience as described below may substitute for the required training at a rate of one (1) year of experience for every thirty (30) semester hours of required training.

AND

Experience: Two (2) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid professional experience in a corrections, probation/parole, law enforcement, social work, recreation, religion or related behavioral or social science field.

OR

Substitution: Graduate coursework from an accredited college or university in criminal justice, corrections, social work or related behavioral or social science field may substitute for the required experience at the rate of fifteen (15) semester hours of training for every one (1) year of experience.
