Full Job Description

As a Clerical Assistant 3, you will be providing timely and courteous customer service in-person or in writing to all Department staff. You will have the opportunity to provide essential support for complex clerical duties and office functions, while engaging in a variety of tasks within the Division and Department to ensure efficient operations. Requirements

This position is multi-faceted and interactive. You will have the opportunity to correspond with a variety of staff from areas both within and outside of the PA Department of Education (PDE).

You will learn basic functions of PDE's responsibilities under the PA Right-to-Know Law (RTKL).

Work involves assisting with document redactions in accordance with the RTKL, logging new requests, and informing the PDE Office of Chief Counsel of new requests.

You will also learn how to utilize the PA Publisher; the Commonwealth's online ordering system operated by the Department of General Services (DGS), Bureau of Publications for print, design, and mail services.

You will be responsible for monitoring the resource account associated with duplicating requests and providing creative and conceptual input; identifying available paper stock; as well as providing format options, style, and design of document suggestions to satisfy requesters' business needs in the most cost-effective manner.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Transporting vehicles to and from the DGS garage in Harrisburg for maintenance
  • Assisting with vehicle upkeep such as car washes, vacuuming, and running vehicles
  • Handling monthly payment of the EZ Pass invoice by verifying and entering charges in spreadsheet prior to payment
  • Providing temporary parking passes
  • Monitoring the Parking Resource Account for temporary pass requests and for other parking issues
  • Serving as the mailroom services backup

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time.

    In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.

    If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.

  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $40,685.00 (before taxes).

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Clerical Assistant 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • One year of moderately complex clerical experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.


Other Requirements:

  • This particular position also requires possession of a current driver's license which is not under suspension.
